Welcome to 2022!
It’s been a while since I last wrote for The Dossier and while I never intended to be away for this long, my absence was intentional.
Where have I been? I can hear you asking.
Well, truth be told … I’ve been on a journey of self-discovery and redevelopment.
No, I didn’t go trekking in a remote third-world country looking for enlightenment – nothing that drastic (and so not me!). Especially given the current state of the world!
But in true entrepreneurial style, I needed to shake things up in my business and change direction.
Why? Mainly because the work I was doing was no longer fulfilling… it happens!
It’s not the first time I’ve changed direction, in fact, if I look back, I usually do so about every 10 years or so. But this time was different, it was the first time that it took nearly 2 years to work out the direction in which I wanted to go.
Yes, you read that right – 2 YEARS! If you know me personally, then you will know that is very uncharacteristic – in fact, I usually have a clear direction, a mission and I’m totally driven and focussed. Not this time …
This time took deeper soul searching and I had to literally use my intuition because my head had no idea.
So, I took a step back and tried a few different things until things started to feel right.
However, I didn’t want to come back to writing until I knew the direction I was headed.
Like all things, COVID and the global pandemic delayed my progress, but it turned out it was a good time for developing my new services and gaining clarity on what my new “products” would look like.
It was exciting, frustrating, and scary all at the same time!
Unsurprisingly, the answer I had been looking for was right under my nose and hidden in plain sight.
The advice to my clients has always been … “When you don’t know where to go, follow your curiosity or do what you love, and the path will appear.”. Well, it makes sense and it’s sage advice but it took a while for that to dawn on me! (face-palm emoji)
SERIOUSLY! I wish I had followed my own advice sooner. But self-discovery is a journey and one that will take as long as it takes, no matter how impatient you are. Believe me, I know.
Well, I love online courses and membership programs and those things have always piqued my curiosity on so many levels. So finally I started there and guess what? It felt right!
So, I started to think about what that would look like for me. I studied the market and looked at what was missing. I also studied under those who are wildly successful in the online course/membership space and then I let my imagination run wild.
There is more to this story (too much for my first post back), so I will tell you more in future posts…
But let’s just say, it was a wild, crazy ride, that is only just starting as we get ready to start launching these new digital programs and now I’m in the position to take you along with me (at least via this blog)!
So, buckle up – I promise this is one you won’t want to miss!
